LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., May 18, 2020 — New York-based Transervice Logistics Inc., has been ranked #304 on Fleet Owner Magazine’s For-Hire 500 List . The rankings are based on total power units operated by a fleet as of December 31, 2019 and include carriers based in the U.S. and Canada. Combined, the top 500 fleets operate a total of 256,188 trucks, 580,520 tractors and 1,511, 233 trailers.

According to Fleet Owner, these companies are influential and powerful voices in shaping the debate involving regulations, trade and other industry issues yet the most noteworthy aspect of the 2020 Fleet Owner listing of the largest for-hire carriers in North America is the fleets from last year’s list that went bankrupt before the new decade started.

After several years of strong freight demand and a flurry of investments in new equipment, 2019 proved to be a far greater struggle for the trucking industry as a whole. Overall, an estimated 800 fleets went out of business through the first nine months of 2019, according to information from Broughton Capital. That is more than double the number of failures recorded during 2018.

“Once again, proudly, Transervice has taken its place alongside the biggest and most well-known carriers in North America,” said company President, Dennis M. Schneider. “Market conditions in 2020 are, and will be, greatly impacted by the number and complexity of the challenges resulting from the Coronavirus pandemic. We stand ready to provide innovative and creative problem-solving solutions to meet the unique and ever-changing transportation demands that are so essential to rebuilding our economy.”

The list is the largest of its kind with information collected by from a database using a number of public and proprietary sources that are constantly being updated, including information from the U.S. Department of Transportation, surveys and phone interviews.
