The United Way COVID-19 Fund
Transervice and the United Way of Long Island are committed to doing as much as we can to help all Long Islanders. We are collaborating with Long Island Voluntary Organization Active in Disasters (LIVOAD) as well as a network of nonprofit organizations to assist those in crisis. United Way has created the UNITED TOGETHER Response Fund to assist the many Long Islanders that will be struggling due to a sudden loss in wages.
United Way of Long Island will be providing financial assistance in the form of grocery store food gift cards and assistance with paying bills – such as utilities, rent, and mortgages.
Starting in April, individuals can call 211 a United Way Long Island call center to receive information and referrals related to support services. www.unitedwayli.
The immediate goal is to raise the needed funds, to start providing services right away. To-date they have support from friends and community members such as New York Jets, Bethpage Federal Credit Union, National Grid, PSEG LI, Teachers Federal Credit Union, Bank of America, Northville and others, but still have a ways to go to meet their goal.
