Talk about your career path at Transervice? I initially worked for Transervice in the late 70’s and left
in 1987 to enter the insurance brokerage world. I worked as an insurance broker for five years when
Eric Sklar and Dennis Schneider reached out to me and offered me the position of Director of Risk
Describe your current job responsibilities: I administer and oversee all casualty and property insurance, self-insurance and workers’ compensation for the company and its affiliates. I also manage the federally mandated DOT Substance Abuse and Alcohol Testing Program for the company.
What do you like most about your job at Transervice? The diversity of my daily work. I never really know what I’m walking into from day to day. We have a lot of moving pieces out there and my job is to be responsive to any risk-related issues at our 120 locations in North America. I like that I’m involved in almost all facets of the business and what I do matters to the wellbeing of the company and its employees.
How would you describe your work environment? Very busy, but always productive.
What do you love best about the culture here? I work autonomously, but if I need to have a decision made with respects to a specific issue, I just simply walk down the hall and get a decision quickly. We don’t have unwieldy, needless, useless meetings and committees to get things done.
What advice would you give to someone interested in working for Transervice? Be ready to work
at a steady pace and pull your sleeves up. You are part of a team and you never know when you will be called upon to participate.
What do you like to do in your spare time? Hobbies? Interests? I like to work out and I love to
watch movies and some TV shows. I especially like to watch the Spanish Tele Novelas. It helps me retain my fluency in Spanish and the actors and actresses are beautiful and fun to watch. I also like to cook healthy foods.
What’s your favorite meal? I don’t really have one.
What’s your favorite place to visit? Where ever my grandkids are.
What was the first concert you attended? Bee Gees in Madison Square Garden, I think!
