When did you first join Transervice? 2008
What was your first job with the company? Director Sales, Midwest
Talk about your career path at Transervice? I have been in Operations my entire career. At Transervice I was brought in as a Sales Director even though I had no direct prior sales experience. The company wanted to try someone with an Operations background. Although I was fortunate and did sign some new business for Transervice, my forte and passion is Operations. I was very fortunate to have been given the opportunity in 2016 to move into an operational role in the Berkeley division in service of Walgreens. This has been a terrific opportunity for me and although I have quite a few years in the industry, it has been an outstanding learning opportunity for which I am very thankful. Operations at Transervice has proven to be very demanding, challenging and rewarding at the same time.
Describe your current job responsibilities: In my role, I oversee all day-to-day and strategic operations for one of our largest customers, Walgreens. Our division is responsible for over 3,000 pieces of equipment, running over 80 million miles, in service of over 8,000 stores covering the majority of the United States including Puerto Rico. To do this, we have approximately 80 people dedicated to operations at 16 locations spread across the above-mentioned geography running just about 24/7 365 days of the year.
What do you like most about your job at Transervice? The opportunity to work with, and learn from, so many great people. both internally and within the customer and vendor ranks. This is a very fast paced, extremely high energy division where we are constantly pushing ourselves to learn more, improve and strive for efficiency and effectiveness. This gives us the opportunity to continually improve quality and service delivery for our customer as well as the quality of work life experience for our employees — both of which are very rewarding.
How would you describe your work environment? It is very fast paced, very high energy and continually on the leading edge of new processes, products and services.
What do you love best about the culture here? It is a family, we work hard together and we all learn from each other.
What attracted you to working in this industry? I have been a mechanic since an early age. At 19 years old I was given the opportunity to transition from hands-on turning wrenches to the corporate environment in the fleet management industry. My dad gave me some terrific advice that still holds today — trucks and the trucking industry are going to be around for a very long time.
What advice would you give to someone interested in working for Transervice? Transervice is an organization with tremendous depth; you get out of it what you put into it. We try to treat everyone like family and work hard as a team — who doesn’t want to be on a winning team?
What do you like to do in your spare time? Hobbies? Interests? I am a drummer so a lifelong student of music of sorts. Playing music is more of a pastime than anything but a fun hobby and great source of grounding. When I can I also like to lose a few golf balls on the course with my three sons.
What’s your favorite meal? Pizza (Chicago pizza)
What’s your favorite place to visit? It’s a tie between New York and Clearwater, Florida
What was the first concert you attended? Rush Moving Pictures
